После нескольких десятилетий доминирования на верхушке рейтинга "лучший музыкальный альбом всех времен и народов", " Beatles" вынуждены были уступить пальму первенства ирландской группе U2. По крайней мере, так считают 250 тысяч человек, проголосовавших за альбом ирландцев "The Joshua Tree" как за лучший альбом мира в эфире телеканала VH1.

Как сообщает британское издание "The Guardian", по результатам голосования почти полумиллиона человек были определены 100 наилучших альбомов групп и индивидуальных исполнителей. Организаторы голосования предполагали, что победа и на сей раз достанется "Beatles", но они ошиблись. Альбомы иверпульской четверки заняли 8 и 9 места, хотя суммарного количества голосов, отданного за них, хватило бы, чтобы с существенной форой перекрыть лидера - U2.

Такой несогласованность фанов " Beatles" не могли не воспользоваться почитатели других звезд. Итак - U2 с альбомом The Joshua Tree на первом месте, затем неувядающий Майкл Джексон с самым продаваемым альбомом всех времен и народов, ставшим мультиплатиновым (проданый тиражем 47 миллионов экземпляром. И замыкает пьядестал третьей ступенькой группа Oasis с интригующим названием альбома med (What's The Story) Morning Glory?
